A Shocking Site

Whether you are for or against the death penalty, chances are you feel strongly about it. That's not likely to change after you visit theelectricchair.com. This ranks among the most disturbing sites I have ever seen on the Web--and that's saying something. Among the tamer features in this house of horrors is a virtual reality of New York state's death house (like many of the features here, it requires you to download Shockwave). There's also an audio interview with Sing Sing Prison's electric chair engineer Charlie, described in the site's droll manner as a "technical expert on Ol' Sparky." But the most gruesome aspect of the site is the collection of autopsy photographs of actual electrocuted inmates--some of them the victims of hideous botched executions. These images are not for the squeamish, so click at your own risk. You'll come away from this unique website either confirmed in your beliefs about the death penalty or dramatically transformed.
