Male Menopause: Fact or Fiction?

The phrase "male menopause" has somehow entered our common medical parlance despite little or no scientific evidence to support its existence. As Dr. Alan Seth Krasner explains in this answer to a question posed by an anxious reader in Baltimore, males cannot physically experience menopause according to the universally accepted definition of that term. Do men experience an analogous "change of life" when they reach a certain age, however? The evidence there is less clear. Dr. Krasner lays out the data concerning testosterone and sperm count deficiencies, but also points out that not all men experience such changes.
