Keeping up with the Joneses

It's the season of giving...has your company made any philanthropic donations this year? PR, you know. Dropping some change in the Salvation Army bucket at the mall doesn't count. If you think the philosophy of your corporate giving plan could use a shot in the arm, take a gander at the Slate's article on the third quarter's 60 largest charitable donations. And to add insult to injury, all the gifts listed here weren't even given by companies, but by individuals! (Most of them current of former CEOs.) Even if your corporation can't cough up the $2 million necessary to tie for last place, that doesn't mean you should ignore the challenge.
