about binge drinking

All of us who are familiar with high school and college life are well acquainted with binge drinking; even if we don't do it ourselves, we undoubtedly know at least a few people who regularly go way overboard with booze. CBS's website has put together a nicely-contructed companion piece to its "48 Hours" show on overdrinking, particularly as it relates to teenagers. Especially interesting to me was the profile of Shandra O'Connell, an alcoholic at 12 who, at 16, has forged a new life for herself without alcohol. The collection of texts are refreshingly non-preachy, but they are--to use an appropriate term--sobering.
