Looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous tabby or all-too-common Golden Retriever? Then you may be interested in this article discussing five new breeds on the pet owner's horizon. MSNBC's pet guy Warren Eckstein lays out the specs on the Munchkin Cat, Bengal Cat, Canaan Dog, American Indian Dog, and Harlekin Poodle. The Munchkin Cat, called by some a "feline dachshund," has already shorted out my Cute-o-Meter, though that Native American is a handsome beast as well. Oh, well, why not get 'em both? A new millennium deserves new companions!
