Solid Gospel Remembers Glen Payne

Site: http://www.solidgospel.com/glen.html

Glen Payne, lead vocalist of the Cathedrals, died Oct. 15th at his home in Franklin, Tenn. He was 72. Payne spent almost 60 years of his life in music, and awards were no foreigners to him and the Cathedrals. Payne was inducted into the Gospel Music Associations Hall of Fame, the Texas Music Hall of Fame, the Southern Gospel Music Associations Hall of fame and the Radio Music Hall of Fame. In 1963 Payne formed a trio and the addition of another changed its name to the Cathedral Quartet. Over the next 35 years 17 other members blessed and were blessed becoming part of the Cathedrals' sound. The Cathedrals are finishing out the year doing a farewell tour to Glen, fulfilling their scheduled concerts. Glen Payne blessed the earth with his voice and now sings in the halls of heaven, face to face singing to the one that, down here, he only could see by faith. For more about this amazing Christian talent, follow the link above to Solid Gospel's tribute to Glen Payne. Listen to his final performance and words from his memorial service.
