Pismo delay: my thoughts

Site: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/9912/pismo-delays.shtml

No company can ever roll out their products on time, of course, but it seems to have become a pattern at Apple. First it was the iBook, then the Airport, then the G4, and now the Powerbook. Companies like Compaq can survive delays and the bad press coverage that goes with it. But the last thing Apple needs is bad publicity, particularly now that their bottom line is improving but their ability to deliver is questionable (since the G4 debacle). But even worse than delays are recalls. In 1999, Mac quality was excellent. Perhaps the solution to this constant "delay" problem is quite simple: stop planning overly aggressive product release schedules. There are rumors that Steve Jobs has been setting ridiculously optimistic release dates for some products. Let us hope his aggressiveness won't backfire in the future.
