New & Improved: PhotoShop 5.5 Bundles ImageReady

PhotoShop 5.5 Upgrade Bundles Image Ready Web Application Adobe takes a step in the right direction by combining ImageReady 2.0 and the latest version of PhotoShop 5.5 in the latest release. Although awkward elements of the new combination appear as though adding ImageReady was a last minute thought, there are enough improvements to make web developers very happy. You will dig the cool slicing and rollovers features akin to Macromedia’s Fire Works, and the improvements in the text tool, from new font styles to a rounded rectangle tool like Illustrator 8’s. They’ve also added advanced image processing/optimization, and image animation “export as HTML” feature for rollovers and animated GIF's, and a far-out "save for web" option that allows you to optimize an image up to four different ways and view them simultaneously for comparison. They also make batch processing images much easier, not to mention some cool new masking options.
