FEELING IRRELEVANT? MEET GRANNY D.

On New Year’s Day a year ago, an 88-year-old great-grandmother started walking east from Pasadena, California, in a one-woman crusade for campaign finance reform. She’s now in West Virginia, just two months from completing a 3,000-mile march protesting Washington’s failure to do anything to curb the legalized and institutionalized bribery that allows the highest bidders to make the laws that run our country. Putting her feet where her principles are, Doris Haddock—-everyone calls her Granny D-—lives solely on Social Security and the hospitality of strangers. As this spunky lady said on her website Monday morning from Clarksburg, "As long as we are breathing and thinking, and our hearts are beating, the world is ours to shape as we please, according to our values." Makes you wonder what you can do for your country.
