Firecracker labels

Site: http://www.sky.net/~redzone/labels

Having grown up in a state where firecrackers are outlawed, I've always had a yen for these festive noisemakers--which is why I'm so crazy about RedZone's firecracker collection page. As explained in the "FAQ'z," labels can sell at auction for upwards of $1,000--but this owner built the bulk of his collection by foraging in gutters as a kid. There are dozens of labels on display, all dating from 1935-1967. And the illustrations are gorgeous--like the colorful array of feathered friends on the Hundred Birds label, and the rather psychadelic-looking djinn on the Devil label. An impressive collection, and a memorable display of an unsual graphic art.
