The lovely, authoritative Blues Tour website offers you a virtual historical joyride through the Windy City's hopping 1946 to 1968 scene. A well-written, multipart narrative essay is augmented by scores of priceless downloadable tunes (many from the Chess label) and photos of prominent Chicago artists. I've never been to Chicago, but by the time I reached the end of this site's text, I felt like a regular at a few of the city's funkiest little blues clubs.
