Top » Science & TechnologySustainable ArchitectureSite: http://www.aloha.net/~laumanaWith the year 2000 here, the question of housing a growing global population is once again front and center. The good news is that planet Earth can support a much larger population. But we will need to house a greater number of people into smaller habitations. This website explains how to do that comfortably. This site is as compact as the homes it describes. The small one-room homes described here are elegant and appealing. It takes a shift in consciousness to imagine abandoning the 20th century 4,000 sq. foot dream home. But let's face it. This isn't the 20th century. Sustainable architecture means architecture that blends with and integrates into the landscape. The most interesting features in this site are its use of QTVR techniques. If QTVR is new to you, the process transforms a static image into a dynamic scene that you control with a mouse. It's a great way to view floor plans or beautiful landscape--both of course are important in sustainable housing design. Thu, 16 Mar 2000 07:36:36 -0800 Submitted by: Russell McNeil
