Unlock the Secrets of Geologic Time

Site: http://www.cotf.edu/ete/modules/msese/earthsysflr/geotime.html

How old is the earth? When did humans first appear? What's the difference between all those "blankozoic," "fiddle-dee-rassic" eras anyway? This website, a joint effort of the Wheeling Jesuit University and NASA's Classroom of the Future, attempts to clear up some of the common misperceptions about geologic time. Once you get past the bespectacled cartoon dinosaur (included to lure the kiddies in), there's a lot you can learn here. Click on one of the steps in the "Stairway of Time" to read up on the distinguishing features of that era. The section "How Old Is That Rock?" provides background on radioactive age dating of rocks, as well as a geologic time column. This is a terrific resource for children and adults alike.
