Newlywed budgeting 101

Site: http://www.advancingwomen.com/mon_sharing.html

Marriage brings with it many joys and challenges, not least of which is how you're going to handle the expenses of your new household. And if you and/or your spouse already has children, that adds another interesting wrinkle to the situation. As usual, Advancing Women has some straightforward and reassuring advice for couples in this position. The article addresses a female audience, but that shouldn't stop readers of the XY persuasion from giving it a read as well. Of course, how you structure your family finances is up to you, but author Michelle Kennedy Hogan recommends that your strategy be based around the idea of partnership--that is, sharing fiscal responsibility not only for household expenses, but also for children, regardless of who their biological parent is. Overall, a constructive look at a very turn-of-the-millennium domestic issue.
