Individual artists have a tendency to post images of their paintings on their websites with the best possible quality, usually resulting in very slow resolution for visitors. Not so with Peter W. Michel, a sculptor in Clinton, New York. His homepage ("Sculpture in Celebration of Self, Relationship and Community") has several colorful images, which compare favorably (in quantity and quality) with other sites. And the page is presented with so much speed that one is almost surprised. In addition, his website is easy, interesting and enjoyable to navigate. Be sure to take a good look as his "Fathers and Sons" sculpture, on view (through November 8, 1999) at the Chicago Pier Walk '99, publicized as "the largest outdoor sculpture show in the world." Other artists with websites might consider contacting Mr. Michel and ask him how he speeded up his image resolution. This is visual proof that it can be done.
