But it's not the end of the world--even though it might feel like that sometimes. That's the message that comes through as you read the stories of dozens of different teens whose essays are posted at Band-Aides and Blackboards. This comprehensive site is dedicated to helping teens with chronic illnesses and other major health issues share their experiences and explain what it's like to be "different." I admit that when I first looked at B&B, I wasn't that impressed by the plain-vanilla design scheme--but I quickly forgot about aesthetic issues when I started reading the stories of how different teens deal with issues that most kids never think about. There's also poems, articles about teasing and going to the hospital, writing by siblings and adults, and much more. It's inspiring to learn about the courage these kids have, and also to find a different perspective on a lot of the things you might take for granted--a must-read, no matter who you are.
