Baby Bills?

Time to break up Microsoft? That seems to be the way government lawyers are leaning in their anti-trust case against the computer colossus. According to this report from Fox News, the feds are considering a plan that would divide Microsoft into two separate companies--one for software and one for the Windows operating system. What would happen to the company's Internet business? No word yet, but this is all starting to feel like deja vu all over again. Remember the AT&T breakup? We could be seeing the birth of a half dozen or so "Baby Bills" before Uncle Sam is through slicing and dicing. Good for the consumer, or bad for the free market? You decide.
