Get Ready to Pay More

Do you love consumer electronics? I sure do. But I don't love the high price tags associated with my favorited audio and video gadgets. Well, guess what? You and I are about to pay a lot more to support our "habit." A shortage in the supply of computer chips threatens to send the sticker prices of everything from cell phones to television sets skyrocketing. That's right, folks, anything that needs a computer chip to run will be affected--and the squeeze is expected to last until well into 2002! After that, analysts expect costs to drop, as manufacturers seek out new and more efficient ways of making their products. But if I were you, I'd clear the decks and buy everything I want now, then come back in a couple of years when the REAL sales start. Between now and then, it's gonna get ugly out there!
