Don't be, says Toshiba America marketing VP Steve Nickerson (who, truth be told, would probably like you to keep both products, thank you very much). According to this article, DVD is still a growing segment of the consumer electronics market, with sales projected to reach 10 percent of U.S. households by the end of 2000. That's generally accepted as the golden threshhold where a product ceases to be a novelty and starts gaining mainstream acceptance. So for you skeptics who thought DVD was going to be the second coming of Digital Audio Tape, get over yourselves. It's not going anywhere soon--except onto my next Christmas list.
