The future is now! Blah, blah, blah...

Since the beginning of time, humankind has persisted in the relentless struggle to improve indoor life. To wit: John Crapper. Refrigeration. Gas fireplaces. All in all, I'd say we've done pretty well! And while we enjoy these ever-evolving conveniences, we are regularly treated to assorted "house of the future" presentations, depicting the imminent George Jetson lifestyle that lurks just around the corner. According to John Gartner's article for Wired News, maybe it's finally time to start paying attention. His descriptions of the gizmos recently unveiled at CES--like the DVD-playing ottoman--will keep consumer electronics buffs something to chew on as they contemplate their now-boring HDTVs.
