First wine of 2000

There has been discussion about who will have the honor of selling the first vintage of the new century. It is pretty certain the magic 2000 number will first appear on a bottle of Genesis Australian Chardonnay. Workers were out on New Year's eve, picking by flashlight, and the yeast was added to the crush at five minutes past midnight on January 1. The first bottles will be auctioned for charity in Australia and England, and if you have a few hundred dollars to spare, you too can own one of these collectors' items. Me--I'll just look at the exclusive "time capsule" packaging and pictures of the harvest on their website.
