Top » Music: Rock & PopA Lovin' Spoonful of John SebastianSite: http://www.johnbsebastian.comOne of the most under-appreciated songwriters of the sixties was John B. Sebastian, leader of the band The Lovin' Spoonful. There are a few other sites devoted to the band, including the current incarnation which John doesn't participate in, but this site is devoted to Sebastian himself. On this lovingly-rendered fan site, one can learn that after the Spoonful broke up, he released a few moderately successful solo records, then returned to his first love, jug band music. Sebastian currently records and performs with The J-Band. The writer of such classics as "Daydream," "Do You Believe in Magic," "Nashville Cats," and the big hit "Summer in the City," will finally be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame this year. At this site, I learned that Sebastian and his J-Band's latest release is called Chasin' Gus' Ghost, and that he has written a children's book entitled "JB's Harmonica." Links for News, Sounds, Interviews, Photos, and a short biography round out this very thorough site. If jug band music doesn't thrill you, you should still do yourself a favor and pick up a Lovin' Spoonful hits collections, or the Sebastian Anthology, and check out this site for more information about a really fine musical storyteller.
