Rice University hosts this thorough site on the life, times, and discover of Galileo Galilei. If the historical side of science ignites your imagination, this is definitely a page you'll want enjoy at a leisurely pace. One of the site's main areas is Galileo's Villa, where you can find all kinds of information on the master scientist's life and contemporaries, including pictures of Galileo's colleagues, descriptions of his patrons, text on his instruments, and (of course) information on his major discoveries.
