Greatest Moments in Rock

Site: http://www.addict.com/issues/1.11/Columns/Hitsville/index.html

Here's a site that's sure to start a few arguments. "The 100 Greatest Moments in the History of Rock & Roll," as selected by Bill Wyman (a staff writer for the Chicago Reader, not the former Stones bassist), focuses mostly on musical moments (i.e. Keith Richards' guitar solo on "Gimme Shelter," the bass line from "Stayin' Alive"), but includes a few wild cards as well, such as the production of Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk" album (huh?) and Lou Reed's liner notes to "Metal Machine Music" (double huh?). Somehow the idiosyncratic choices make it all the more charming, however. This is no boring, mainstream "Rolling Stone" list of moments. So even if you don't agree that "the concussive beginning of Portishead's 'Sour Times'" represents some sort of epiphany, print this list out and post it in your cubicle. It'll be sure to start some interesting water cooler conversations.
