Embroidery Patterns

There are an extensive collection of patterns here for "blackwork." While this can be done in any color of your choice, traditionally this is done in black silk on white linen and is composed of geometric designs. It is a very old craft, with several examples to be seen on costumes in old paintings. This site also includes the instructions for doing a double running stitch, which is the foundation for all the designs, so even if you have not done much embroidery before, this has all the information to get you started.
