security is now a priority

With the Internet already a dominant resource replete with both potential and actual uses and abuses, the world turns its eyes to the U.S. to set the standard for computer security. With all those Americans online, who should be more concerned about these issues? This piece by Yoshiaki Sato Yomiuri Shimbun tells about the beginnings of the security business, 5 years ago in the burbs of D.C., to the present, with its increasingly intense focus on making systems hacker-proof. Even "reformed" hackers are getting in on the scene, making the world safe from crackers such as themselves. Nevertheless, cyberterrorists and viruses continue to plague the Net. So what's next? Some say education in cyber ethics is just around the corner.
