Take a Dip in the Dead Pool

It's too late to place your entry in the 2000 dead pool, the contest where netizens try to predict which celebrities are going to buy the farm in the coming year. But you can peruse the list of selected candidates here at the "Many Numbers Of Eternal Slumber" page. Bob Hope seems to be a popular choice this year, as he was in 1999, but something tells me ol' Ski Nose isn't ready for a pine box just yet. Others chosen to be be noshing on a dirt sandwich by the turn of 2001 include Pope John Paul II (explains itself), Jim "Ernest" Varney (explains nothing), and Adam Sandler (made me laugh out loud just to know somebody picked him). Sadly, the participants in the pool don't tell you what thinking (if any) went into their choices, so you're left to wonder why Don Knotts was deemed more prone to decease in the next twelve months than, say, Jack Paar.
