Tax This, Uncle Sam!

Site: http://www.ustreas.gov/taxpolicy/internet.html

It's become clear that some government agencies view the growth of e-commerce as a feasible and profitable opportunity to increase tax revenue. Small internet-related businesses, operating on shoestring margins, cannot afford the huge taxation exacted by these insatiable tax boards. The internet business community should not allow overtaxation just because our cybespace transactions originate or end in certain localities. Recently, I ran across an article related to internet business transactions entitled "Selected Tax Policy Implications of Global Electronic Commerce," published by the Department of the Treasury's Office of Tax Policy. This document is excellent in defining the government's desire to close the loop relative to Internet ecommerce transactions. Read the executive summary the document at the URL above.
