Bromoil!Site: http://members1.clubphoto.com/gene46746In the Bromoil process, you make a black-and-white print on paper, replacing the silver manually with lithography inks. This old process is being revitalized and propagated via the Web by workers like Gene Laughter. To me, the results are more appealing than most of the digital painterly effects. I especially liked Gene’s “Storm on Jekyll Island,” “Night Train to London” and “Sante Fe.” Bromoil is not only photography, but also a hybrid with printmaking – I hope it will be embraced anew by both disciplines. Gene’s book has the how-tos and dispels myths about the difficulty of Bromoil. Tue, 16 Nov 1999 13:35:03 -0800
