Asian-American Action Figure Archive

Peter Chen has archived his collection of action figures of Asians and Asian-Americans on this extensive site. His FAQ explains why it is not a "complete" collection, in case anyone wonders why he does not have every last Mulan toy made. The archive itself is organized by genre (anime, movies, sports, etc.), and has photographs and descriptions of each figure listed, often with a description of the entire line each is from. This site is also a fascinating study in the way the Western world sees Asians, because, as Chen points out, many of the figures/characters fall into the same old patterns: evil dragon woman, wise old sage, martial artist, etc. Worth a look.
