Top » Music: JazzShalom Aleychem!Site: http://www.princeton.edu/zemerlThe world of Jewish music is yours to command at Zemerl, a dynamite interactive database of Jewish song. The site has archived the lyrics to more tha 400 songs, the majority in Yiddish or Hebrew. Many of them are accompanied by sound clips, so you can hear samples of such favorites as "Di Mizinke Oysgebebn" ("I Gave Away My Youngest Daughter") and "Dem Zeydns Nign" ("Grandfather's Tune"). There are also links to articles about the history of Jewish music and a bulletin board where you can communicate with other like-minded Net surfers. A few nitpicks: does Adam Sandler's infantile "Hanukkah Song" ("Put on your yarmulke, it's time for Hanukkah") really merit inclusion here? And is it too much to expect the proprietors of a Jewish music site to be able to spell "dreidel" correctly? If you can overlook these atrocities, however, you'll find a lot of fun stuff here.
