In fact, there is much talk that the U.S. gold reserve has been depleted for quite some time. Is there incentive for the Fed to be involved in the gold price? Maybe so! Gold has long been an indicator, or safe haven, from inflation. Of course, our government would like you to believe there is no inflation. It is somewhat hard to believe since oil has doubled in the last 12 months and the bond yield has creeped up over 6.5% in the last couple of months. The following article briefly presents an overview of recent events directed to Alan Greenspan regarding the Fed's involvement in the gold markets and provides a copy of his response.
