Last week, Gloria Estefan organized a historic event in support of freedom and human rights in Cuba, in the heart of Little Havana. The demonstration took place on March 25 in Miami to support the Damas de Blanco or Ladies in White, whose march last week was broken up violently by government security agents.

The ladies march every year to commemorate the anniversary of the 2003 arrests of their husbands and sons during the “Black Spring crackdown” against independent journalists.

Celebrities and community leaders walked with Gloria and her husband, Emilio, accompanied by thousands, waving flags of the United States, Cuba, Argentina, Mexico, and others. It was the first demonstration of its kind, being organized by individuals instead of political organizations.

O Magazine will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a “Live Your Best Life” weekend in New York City. The weekend-long event will take place May 7-9.

Oprah will lead the Live Your Best Life Walk in New York City on Sunday, May 9th to raise money for 10 deserving charities.

Around one billion people lack sufficient access to healthy water and World Water Day, first established by the United Nations (UN), provides the opportunity for everyone to get involved. It is an annual initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro.

Shakira, John Legend and Angelique Kidjo will also appear at the event, to be held in Johannesburg on 10 June 2010. The World Cup will then run the next day. The year 2010 will mark the first time the FIFA World Cup will be played in Africa.

The event will feature musical performances by major international stars and popular African artists collaborating together. All proceeds are to benefit 20 Centres for 2010, the official campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. 20 Centres for 2010 aims to create positive social change and to raise funds to build 20 facilities across the African continent to provide training, healthcare options and soccer instruction.

Last week, celebs like Dr. McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey, John Mayer, Jeremy Renner, Joel McHale, Molly Sims, among others helped celebrate the first 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia in the US, held in Los Angeles, to help Haiti.

Perhaps the “star” of the night was the first 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia to arrive in the United States, which sold for $530,000 from an unnamed buyer at an auction. All benefits will go to Haiti relief.

Attendees had the opportunity to bid on Ferrari Formula One driver, Fernando Alonso’s original racing suit, which raised $31,000. Also auctioned was the opportunity to be a Ferrari team member at the Canadian Grand Prix in June.
