Haitian-born musician Wyclef Jean has been leading the charge to help victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. In 2005, Jean started the Yele Haiti charity organization, whose purpose is to restore pride and hope to the Haitian people. After the earthquake on Tuesday, Yele Haiti was among the first to initiate an appeal for aid via Twitter.
Jean is encouraging people to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund.
Jean’s former group, The Fugees coined the term “Yele” in a song, which means “a cry for freedom”.

In this PSA, Viggo Mortensen and Sheryl Crow urge you to act now and speak for those who can’t and have no one to protect them but us.
The wild horse is considered to be a symbol of the American west. Sheryl Crow recognizes this and is taking part in a charity campaign to stop the US government from driving wild horses eastward from the western plains. The government claims it has to move the horses due to the vast amount of them grazing and the Nevada ranges cannot support them. Crow first came to know about this issue when she adopted a wild horse named Smokey from Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Facebook was quite the colourful place this week. If you’re one of the confused individuals who was wondering why FB statuses consisted only of “black,” “red,” “leopard” or the ever so-popular “nude,” (you know that got your attention); then you’re probably a guy!
Well gentlemen, just in case you haven’t been informed, this is due to a viral campaign that spread throughout Facebook this week. Female members got private messages in their inbox from girlfriends suggesting they post the colour of the bra they were wearing to spread awareness about breast cancer.
I’m definitely not one to join in on “chain letters” but this one just seemed fun and it was to spread the word about a great cause.
A group of actors, musicians and activists have decided to take adventure and philanthropy to an elevated level, 19,340 ft. to be exact.
Actors, Jessica Biel and Emile Hirsch, rapper Lupe Fiasco, Alexandra Cousteau, Elizabeth Gore, Kick Kennedy and musician Kenna are making the 7-day trek to raise both awareness and funds for the global water crisis.
