On eBay, any collector knows that in the last second the price on a desired collectable or antique can go through the roof. Are bidders hovering at their keyboards? Nope, they are using sniping services. These services swoop in at the last minute with your bid. At least that way you haven’t revealed your true willingness to pay to the eBay marketplace. I know I have moved to buy-it-now auctions for many purchases, because with sniping, there always seems to be some buyer paying crazy prices. Of course, that is great when I’m the seller.
