Mark Jen was fired from Google on Jan 28th. However, he seems to have learned a lot fast regarding how, in addition to the obvious rules within an organization, it is possible to step on toes simply by airing laundry, regardless of whether that laundry is clean or dirty.

Organizations are mad up of people, and with blogs, people feel empowered to communicate, now that blogs allow them to self publish. This isn’t the first time a blog has gotten someone fired, and it’s not the last, even when the blog is anonymous and doesn’t identify the company/employer. When in doubt, let your boss know you blog. It might save your career. Marc is looking for a new gig, so if you have offices in “the valley,” visit his blog and drop him a note.
