Star Wars Toys, Will Star Wars Episode 3 Be a Toy Blockbuster
Star Wars Episode III toy sales will be critically important for Hasbro, exclusive licensee for Star Wars toys and games though 2018. CNN reports that Hasbro needs a blockbuster after disappointing financial results recently. The CEO Alfred Verrecchia is quoted from a conference call with analysts as stating “The overall decline in our boys’ business hurt toys’ profitability because that is a high margin business for us.”
You would think that if it’s your highest margin business, the focus would be unwavering… Perhaps not.
Also, I couldn’t figure out where Star Wars Legos fit in. Hasbro doesn’t own Lego, last I looked, so I guess Legos don’t count as toys under the exclusive license.
