Steve Fossett Circumnavigates Globe, Global Flyer 67-hour Solo Flight
Steve Fossett & Richard Branson sure love adventure. If I only got 20 minutes sleep out of 67 hours of flying, I’d be a cranky passenger, much less a pilot. Perhaps when I’m ready to retire, I’ll start taking adventures like the 60-year-old financier. Richard Branson, whose Virgin Atlantic airline funded the trip, was a huge supporter. I guess being a millionaire isn’t good enough to fund your own trip, so Steve called buddy Richard to come up with the cash for GlobalFlyer the lightweight aircraft built by Burt Rutan’s Scaled Composites. Of course, it helps when Virgin Atlantic gets all the free publicity.
