Apple Ends Partnership with IBM, Switches to Intel Chips
The rumor has been flying around for a bit, but not many actually gave it a serious thought. Well, it’s happening today: all major publications say Jobs will announce the new partnership with Intel at the Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco. Such a fitting place for the announcement, since the developers will have a migraine re-writing the codes to fully utilize the new processor.

And as expected immediately after the announcement, it looks like we’re going to get the first “Macintel” in January with a re-worked version of the Mac mini, optimized for media center use. The question for us Mac-heads is: do we run out to get the Macintel Mini or wait for the the all-in-one Macintel iMac? The price on the new mini will determine how quickly I pop for a new Mac.
