Doctor gives advice on how to love yourself

In a time when how we look seems to be increasingly important, Dr. Elizabeth McIngvale gives advice on how to love your appearance.

McIngvale, a professor at Baylor College of Medicine, claims that social media plays a large role in how we see ourselves. The first tip she gives is a warning against comparison.

In addition, “the people we surround ourselves with” contribute to our body image. When we surround ourselves with encouraging people, we are far likelier to feel better about ourselves.

Another tip McIngvale gives is positive self-talk. This is a method in which we consciously remind ourselves that they are beautiful and worthwhile. Also, focusing on the features about ourselves that we like as opposed to the ones we don’t is an excellent strategy.

The most important thing for us to remember? That beauty is on the inside far, far more than it is on the outside.
