“Pay What You Can” Cafe brings Affordable Food to those in Need

On the fourth Sunday of every month, Heart-N-Soul, in Fargo, North Dakota, offers a “Pay What You Can” Cafe. Their menu has no prices, and instead, customers are encouraged to pay whatever they are able to afford. The “suggested” price is seven dollars, but Heart-N-Soul will take any and all donations. The kitchen is completely run by volunteers who prepare, cook, and serve their food to hungry guests. Since starting the “Pay What You Can” series, the kitchen’s volunteer base has grown to over 200 people.

Heart-N-Soul will soon grow in reach, as Fargo Cass Public Health has agreed to help host more of “Pay What You Can” events.

There are over 150 other “Pay What You Can” Cafes around the country.
